Commissioning a custom artwork or pencil drawing

Email me the highest resolution photo you have and let me know a little of your requirements, preferred medium & concept for your drawing. I can discuss ideas for custom backgrounds based on famous paintings or special background settings.
YOUR PHOTO
To create your painting or drawing, I will need a good clear photo. Remember that the final drawing will largely depend on the details that I can see in your photo. Send a few of your favorite shots, so I can help you choose which one will be appropriate for the medium and size of artwork you prefer. The better the quality of photograph, the better the finished painting or drawing will be. Photographs should be clear, in focus with the subject occupying the majority of the frame. The photo should have clear details of the eyes and hair, with good contrast lighting, which means a good balance of light and shadow. If you are in Portland, Oregon, I can also arrange to do a photo session to ensure a good artwork.
COMMISSIONING A PORTRAIT
Once we have discussed and agreed on the medium, size, and unique concept of your artwork, I will give you an initial sketch of the idea and composition of the artwork together with a quote for the price (including shipping) and the time frame for completion. A downpayment will be required for me to start your portrait.
PORTRAITS IN PROGRESS
Once I have started your artwork, I will send emails of the painting/drawing as it progresses or post it on the website for you to view online. This will allow you to give feedback and to ensure that you are happy with the work so far.
THE COMPLETED PORTRAIT
When your drawing is completed, I will email you the final drawing. If you are satisfied with the work, I will make preparations for shipping. (Client pays shipping & handling). The remaining balance will be paid at this point. If you are in Portland, Oregon, I can meet to deliver your portrait. A unique signed Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each artwork. All my works are on high quality, acid-free Strathmore Bristol Board and sprayed with a fixative coating to ensure that it will last for years.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
Most pencil drawings take me 3-4 weeks to complete depending on size and complexity. Contact me to find out more about my current drawing schedule. This will depend on the number of drawings I am currently working on. If you have a specific date you need the portrait to be finished, do let me know in advance to give me ample time to create.

Portraits make great gifts -one that will surely be treasured for life. Framed and hung on walls, they make for very personalized wall decor and will be a conversation piece for your home's interior. Gift certificates are available if you want to give the gift of art to someone special, redeemable for any of my services (illustration, photography, garden art and landscape design) and prints.
